Okay, let’s talk about cooking in your RV. We have been living and traveling in our Highland Ridge Open Range 371 MBH fifth wheel for the past 3.5 years. We could not be happier with our kitchen and our cooking options. The fantastic kitchen layout with the residential appliances made the transition from our traditional sticks and bricks home to our home on wheels a breeze. We can grocery shop biweekly and have plenty of storage in our fridge to make all our meals for those 2 weeks.
Cooking in your RV

Before we had moved into our fifth wheel full-time, we had heard tons of horror stories about cooking in your RV and using your RV oven. We have a 4-burner gas stove and residential sized oven that allows us to cook just like we did in our home before. We also have a residential microwave that is so nice to have for all our quick and easy meals. The only other kitchen appliances that we travel with are our crock pot and air fryer.
The one downfall I will talk about is in such a small space cooking inside can heat up your RV quickly. So, for those hot summer months it is best for us to cook outside and utilize our outdoor appliances that came with our RV. We have a small grill and griddle in our outdoor kitchen with a sink and tiny fridge. Our outdoor refrigerator is only used for drink storage and our outdoor sink is only used for rinsing our hands. This outdoor setup has been great for the past 3 years on the road and I can honestly say that cooking outdoors has become a staple for our family.
This whole RV lifestyle has allowed our family to slow down from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and cook meals together, inside or outside and enjoy the process of cooking and eating as a family.
